Northeast Ohio road construction update: Will your commute be affected?

I-480 westbound to Ohio 237 will have nightly closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for resurfacing beginning May 1.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The traffic landscape continues to change as road construction projects progress in Northeast Ohio.

Will your commute be affected this week? The Ohio Department of Transportation has released its lists of upcoming detours for Cuyahoga County and other areas of Greater Cleveland.

Cuyahoga County

U.S. 6 (Chardon Rd.) between Newcome Street and Chestnut Lane in Richmond Heights will have various lane restrictions beginning May 7 and continuing through August for resurfacing.

Interstate 71 between Ridge Road and the George V. Voinovich Innerbelt Bridge will have various off-peak lane restrictions beginning on May 6 for resurfacing. The project is expected to be completed in October.

I-90 eastbound just east of Columbia Road is now in a bi-directional traffic pattern. This will continue through July as a bridge deck is replaced. All lanes of traffic are maintained, but there will be one lane of eastbound traffic on the I-90 westbound side separated by a concrete barrier. Two lanes of traffic will remain on the eastbound side.

I-480 westbound to Ohio 237 will have nightly closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for resurfacing beginning May 1 and continuing through May 7. The detour is Clague Road to Brookpark Road to Ohio 237.

I-71 northbound to I-480 westbound will have nightly closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for resurfacing beginning May 1 and continuing through May 7. The detour is I-480 eastbound to Tiedeman Road to I-480 westbound.

I-480 westbound over Northfield Road will have various lane restrictions beginning May 10 and continuing through late May.

I-480 under Great Northern Boulevard will have various nightly lane restrictions beginning Monday and continuing through late June.

Geauga County

U.S. 422 westbound to Mumford Road northbound is closed to all truck traffic through late May for a culvert replacement. The detour is Main Market Road to Claridon Troy Road to Tavern Road.

Medina County

Ohio 162, just east of Burdett Road, will close May 6 for a culvert replacement. The detour is Ohio 162 east to Ohio 94 north to Ohio 18 east to I-77 south to Ohio 21 south to Ohio 162, and reverse. Estimated completion is May 10.
