Algerian state-owned oil company Sonatrach on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hecate Energy Global Renewables (HGR Energy), the international affiliate of US renewables and storage developer Hecate Energy to collaborate on renewable energy and green hydrogen production projects in Algeria.

The companies agreed to jointly carry out an initial feasibility study to explore the possibilities of setting up a renewable energy production project in Algeria. In the second phase, they will examine using these renewables in green hydrogen production projects, Sonatrach said.
