Gazprom Neft signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications Motor Roads Committee

Gazprom Neft and the Kazakhstan Ministry ofTransport and Communications Motor Roads Committee have signed amemorandum ofcooperation onthe production and usage ofbitumen for road construction inKazakhstan.

The agreement envisages close cooperation between Gazprom Neft and the Committee toensure the supply ofhigh-quality bitumen-based materials for the road-construction industry inKazakhstan. Tothat end the parties plan tocooperate more closely inthe resourcing and sharing ofinformation, todevelop bitumen production inthe Republic ofKazakhstan using cutting-edge technologies, and toensure continuous improvement inthe production and transportation ofbitumen and related products.

Gazprom Neft isone ofthe most significant producers and suppliers ofbitumen products inRussia— abusiness line ithas been developing since 2008. Company data for 2013 indicates Gazprom Neft has a30-percent share ofthe Russian bitumen market, with sales ofbitumen materials inthe order of1.8 million tonnes per year. Atthe end ofDecember 2012 the company acquired a280,000-tonne annual-capacity bitumen production facility inShymkent, inSouthern Kazakhstan. The Gazprom Neft—Bitumen Kazakhstan LLP facility (supplied with raw materials from the Gazprom Neft Omsk refinery) represents anentirely new technological complex, allowing the production ofawide range ofbitumen products while ensuring the supply ofhigh-quality bitumen products for those organizations involved inthe construction and reconstruction ofroads throughout Kazakhstan.
