The work on the flyover, which is part of the Mithapur rail overbridge commenced in November 2013 and was initially scheduled to be completed by December 2015. The deadline was later revised to December last year and again to June this year.
“Only a final layer of bituminous coating is left to be done and the road markings and railing are left to be painted. We will complete this wok in the next five days,” said a BRPNNL engineer associated with the project.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 167.85 crore, the flyover joins the eastern flank of Chiraiyatand rail overbridge with the Mithapur rail overbridge.
The network of flyovers comprising Chiraiyatand and Mithapur railway overbridges along with two upcoming flyovers at R-Block and Karbigahiya will allow commuters to travel between Hardinge Road and Kankerbagh without any traffic snarl. The Karbigahiya flyover is proposed to be constructed at a cost of Rs 103crore and the R-Block flyover at a cost of Rs 118 crore.
