Former Liverpool defender Connor Randall has completed a surprise move to Bulgarian side Arda Kardzhali.

Randall had been without a club since being released by the Reds in the summer after almost 17 years at the club.

The 23-year-old has this week signed a two-year deal with Arda Kardzhali, who last season won promotion to Bulgaria's top flight for the first time in their history.

Arda, currently fifth after eight games, were purchased in the summer of 2017 by Bulgarian road construction company PSI Group when in the third tier, with the takeover subsequently bankrolling successive promotions.

Randall had been at Liverpool's Academy since the age of six and, after a loan spell at Shrewsbury, was handed his senior debut by Jurgen Klopp in the League Cup win over Bournemouth in October 2015.

The right-back went on to make a total of eight appearances for Liverpool, although his last was in the FA Cup fourth round home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2017.

Randall spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Hearts in Scotland, but saw a stay at Rochdale last campaign cut short after fracturing his cheekbone in only his third appearance for the club.
