Road Construction
RALEIGH, N.C. — A bumpy ride in Raleigh should get smoother over the next couple of years.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has awarded a $5.7 million contract to resurface parts of Glenwood and Wade avenues in Raleigh.

Crews will start work on 3.3 miles of Wade Avenue, from the railroad bridge near Capital Boulevard to Ridge Road, in August and expect to be finished by November.

Next year, crews will tackle 8.2 miles of Glenwood Avenue 70 from just inside Interstate 440 to Interstate 540. The start time for that work hasn't been set yet, but it should be finished by November 2022.

All work will be done at nights to minimize the impact on commuters.

More road construction is coming to Durham as well. The DOT awarded a $5.5 million contract to resurface more than 25 miles of state roads throughout the county.
